Osteopathy

OSTEOPATHY

A fully hands-on approach to movement, pain and function.

Gonçalo’s osteopathic work is exclusively manual. Each session combines assessment, deep tissue techniques, joint manipulation and assisted stretching according to the person, the presentation and the goals of the session.

THE METHOD

Three elements, adapted to each session.

01 · SOFT TISSUES

Deep manual work

Hands-on techniques directed at muscles, tendons, ligaments and other soft tissues, with intensity adapted to the individual.

02 · JOINTS

Joint manipulation

Classical osteopathic techniques and, where appropriate, selected chiropractic-style manipulations to work on mobility and joint function.

03 · YOGA 2.0

Assisted stretching

Intense, guided stretching used to explore range of motion, mobility and body awareness in a controlled way.

THE SESSION

Assessment first. Technique second.

A session begins by understanding the person’s history, current symptoms, movement and relevant context. The manual approach is then selected and adjusted according to the findings of that assessment. The objective is not to apply the same sequence to everyone, but to build a session around the individual.

WHEN PEOPLE SEEK ASSESSMENT

Common reasons include pain, stiffness, mobility issues and postural concerns.

People may seek osteopathic assessment for musculoskeletal pain, recurrent tension, restricted movement, recovery from certain injuries, postural discomfort or simply because something feels mechanically “off”. The clinical context always matters, and not every presentation is appropriate for manual treatment.

Where symptoms suggest that another type of medical assessment is more appropriate, referral or medical follow-up should take priority. Osteopathy does not replace necessary medical diagnosis or treatment.
